So one of the techniques I’m using is facing my fears. Some of these are minor fears or simply avoiding seeing certain things. For example, gross out videos. I am not attracted to seeing people eating bugs, or huge pus filled cysts, or seeing people getting hurt. However, I do not want to avoid seeing these things either and feel like if I can watch those videos and process my feelings I will be able to see more clearly.
Why would you not want to see something other than because seeing that thing would make you feel bad. It may be appropriate to feel bad seeing disgusting or painful things, but we may be bent too far in one direction where through this fear we are avoiding all sorts of interactions.
